Pour the two full glasses of milk into the glass jar. You need to use only glass jar since you will be fermenting it for about 24 hours. Using metal jar could cause growth of allergens in the mix. Add two full glasses of Kefir grain powder to the milk and stir well for about 10 minutes. Alternately you can use the blender to stir it. But you should make sure that your stirring speed with the blender is slow. Excess of stirring can cause the milk to break and spoil the preparation.

After stirring it for about 5 to 6 minutes you need to tie a cheesecloth or paper napkin to the mouth of the jar.  Let the mix ferment for about 24 hours. Then you can place the jar in the refrigerator for about 3 hours to make it cold. Then you can take it out and serve chilled. Your family members will love the taste. If you wish to add extra flavor you can garnish it with dry fruits and ice cream.

Traditional preparation of kefir was through overnight fermentation with milk at ambient temperature. This process gets initiated by the bacteria in the lactic acid and yeast.
